A curious cross between roadside Americana and a vehicle intended for traveling across the country, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is instantly recognizable to young and old alike. The first fleet of Wienermobiles set off to advertise the now famous hot dogs back in the 1950s and roam the streets today.
The Henry Ford Museum features a classic 1952 model, which is often our first stop for a quick picture. Several new models have been made over the years in various forms. Currently, Oscar Mayer has a program in which they hire college students for a year long cruise. Fans of the Wienermobile can also find classic wiener whistles in the gift shop and have a wax mold made for their desk.
