The three waterfalls that are located on the border of the United States and Canada are what is considered the Niagara Falls region. The largest of the waterfalls is Horseshoe Falls, followed by the American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls. Anyone who visits Niagara Falls will have the opportunity to see the falls from either country and it is possible to cross the border to the other side with a passport. Here are 5 reasons to visit Niagara Falls:

Maid of the Mist

Everyone needs to experience the waterfalls up close and personal and the best way to do that is to ride the Maid of the Mist. These boats have been traveling to the center of the falls since 1846 and no one ever leaves the boat dry. Everyone will experience the thundering sounds of 600,000 gallons of water rushing over the falls every minute while the mist from the falls surrounds the entire boat.

Oakes Garden Theatre

The Oakes Garden Theatre was first constructed in 1937 and while the original pergola wall was removed in 2012, it has recently been restored and looks just like it did all those years ago. This theatre is at the bottom of Clifton Hill and serves as the entrance to Queen Victoria Park. The views of the waterfalls are magnificent from the theatre, especially at night when the lights on the falls turn on. The area of the theatre and the park are a perfect destination for a picnic lunch or a romantic afternoon.

Niagara SkyWheel

The SkyWheel was constructed back in 2006 and it has quickly become one of the most popular attractions at 175 feet in the air. The gondolas are completely enclosed, so everyone can enjoy their ride even in cold and rainy weather. Everyone will see panoramic views of the falls as well as the Niagara River, the Niagara Parks, and many other landmarks.

Fallsview Casino

The Fallsview Casino is close to Clifton Hill and that is the area where all the action takes place. This casino opened in 2004 and while it is not the only casino in Niagara Falls, it is one of the best. Underneath the hand painted ceilings, guests will find slot machines and table games as well as some well-known entertainers. When people are finished gambling, they can shop in one of the numerous shops in the Galleria, have a massage, or play a round of golf.

Ripley’s Attractions

Ripley’s offers some of the most interesting attractions in tourist destinations across the US and Canada and their Niagara Falls location in no different. Experience three unique attractions including Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium, our art motion simulator ride Ripley’s Moving Theater, and Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks showcasing over 100 life-like wax figures. Inside you’ll find 900 exhibits including real shrunken heads.  Also, their new aquarium is now open in downtown Toronto.

Niagara Falls is a fabulous place to visit, because there is so much to do and see. The region has changed considerably over the years and while the Maple Leaf Village Amusement Park and Village are no longer at the top of the hill, the stores and wonderful attractions are still there. The changes have only made it better and everyone should visit this fantastic natural wonder.
