Two New LEGO Star Wars Animated Series Coming to Disney XD

Disney XD is bring us two great new LEGO Star Wars series. The first is a 5-part run of shorts titled LEGO Star Wars: The Resistance Rises. The action-adventure comedy series, similar to the humorous Droid Tales, will follow the likes of Kylo Ren, Han Solo, Finn, Rey, BB-8, Maz Kanata, and more, and takes place ahead of the First Order’s attack on Jakku. Look for a lot of tongue in cheek jokes throughout the story. The series premieres February 15th. Watch the first episode below.

The next, and even more exciting series, will be LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, which will debut this summer. The story is based around the Freemakers, a “family of scavengers who build and sell starships from the scoured debris of space battles strewn throughout the galaxy.” When the youngest Freemaker discovers an ancient lightsaber, the family is “thrown into an epic struggle against the empire to restore peace and freedom to the galaxy.” The series will feature several new characters and takes place between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. At least one LEGO set is already lined up for production, the StarScavenger ship. I’ll keep you posted on updates and the release date when more information is released.
