Thinkway Toys Deluxe WALL-E and EVE Figures Review

While my daughter was perusing the Star Wars Legos at Target this week I stumbled upon the new action Pixar action figure display and had to buy the WALL-E and EVE deluxe figures. Created by Thinkway Toys, these figures were previously only available through Toys R Us and retail and both stores for $19.99 each. There are also other Pixar characters in the collection as well as smaller 2 and 3 inch figures and a remote control WALL-E. We found these two to be great for both the collector and as play toys. The detailing is top notch for something in the toy aisle while still being durable. Both figures come with accessories for added imaginative play and have several moving and poseable parts. My daughter is having a blast playing with them and the pair will look great on my desk when she’s done. Overall a great purchase.

WALL-E

The WALL-E action figure features great detailing for a toy. The paint job is spot on and he features poseable arms and hands plus his head and eye modules are hinged. His hands open and close, but aren’t hinged tight enough to hold onto small objects. The only weak spot is that the neck mount is loose and wobbles a bit. WALL-E comes with two compacted trash cubes which can be placed, one at a time, into his front compartment. The Rear panel swings up when an object is inserted and pops out the object when pushed back in place. This is great for playability with the drawback of not being able to store anything inside WALL-E without lowering his back panel, which looks awkward. As an added bonus, the interior of the trash compartment is textured so you can stuff in some PlayDoh (or similar product), close the front hatch, then push the back panel down to pop out a new cube. Two things that would make this toy even better would be extendable arms with hands that can actually hold onto items and moving treads instead of little wheels on the bottom.

Pros

  • Very detailed paint job
  • Poseable arms and head
  • Trash compactor action for cubes and ability to make Playdoh cubes

Cons

  • Neck mount is not solid and hands cannot hold onto objects
  • Arms do not extend, so he can’t hold onto cubes
  • Back panel has to stay raised while items are stored inside

EVE

While I love WALL-E, EVE was the highlight of this pair. She comes with several accessories, including a light bulb, boot with plant (essential to story driven play), a second blaster cannon arm, and a plastic rock that blasts apart at the push of a button. EVE herself is solidly constructed with front panels that seal properly and arms stay in position. She sits on a removable clear stand, which is perfect for an egg-shaped robot. Push down on her head and the eyes will change to one of six different patterns, which is a very innovative feature.

Pros

  • Solid construction with tight fitting arms and front panels
  • Fun accessories
  • Changing eye patterns add fun to playtime or display

Cons

  • Couldn’t find any

The WALL-E and EVE Deluxe action figures were a great find. In the future I would definitely consider buying others in the line or giving them as gifts. See below for packaging pics.
