In September I was invited to the Sweet Apple Farm Market for a tour and lunch. Being from an area surrounded by farms and orchards, I was right at home. Sweet Apple Farm’s mission is to provide a destination full of family friendly fun. The farm dates back to 1940 and current owner, Mona, does a wonderful job keeping visitors happy.
Disclosure: This tour was part of a press trip provided by Marietta, Ohio CVB. As always, opinions are purely my own.
Sweet Apple Farm’s season begins in July and August with berry picking. Things really pick up in September when the Fall harvest events start. Each year features a new corn maze for guests to test their navigational skills. The maze also features an educational theme for kids, such as water conservation for this year’s Jack and Jill design.
Tractor rides, pumpkin picking and craft activities are available. Kids can paint a pumpkin or build their own scarecrow. Sweet Apple Farm has a shop in the lower level of the barn where they sell a variety of seasonal crafts, souvenirs, and snacks for visitors.
The farm hosts a variety of events. While we were on our tour, a senior group was visiting. It was fun watching one of the farm hands bring a goat over for them to see. In the off season school groups can learn about farming. The farm even hosts weddings and other special events.
