One of the most eagerly awaited movies in the Marvel Universe will be hitting theaters March 8th, 2019. Captain Marvel will be set in the 1990s and brings viewers up to speed on one of the most powerful Marvel heroes. Captain Marvel may not be as well known to the masses as Thor or Iron Man, but the character has a complicated timeline going back several decades. The Captain marvel we’ll see in the film is based on Carol Danvers, who was originally known as Ms. Marvel in comics.

So, why is this character so important? During the massive cliffhanger ending of Infinity War, Nick Fury sent out the call for Captain Marvel. Two months after the release of this movie, the sequel to Infinity War is slated for release.

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ CAPTAIN MARVEL is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes.
